It is a costly endeavor to purchase a brand-new set of lawn bowls. Therefore, you want to make sure that you are making the right choice. As we are going to examine the main criteria on which we will evaluate indoor bowls in this guide, we will also offer our opinion on what we believe to be the best indoor bowls.
Indoor and outdoor models are physically and structurally identical. The main difference between them is how they behave, but they are essentially the same.
Indoor models have a smaller bias, so they won’t arc quite as much. The difference in speeds between indoor carpet and outdoor green is the reason for the need for a narrower line. You would have to use such a wide line if you were to use an outdoor model on an indoor carpet, which would make a drawing to the jack nearly impossible.
On the other hand, you would have the opposite effect if you used an indoor carpet model on an outdoor green. You would end up with a very narrow line. You’ll be unable to draw around anything in front of the head, and everyone else will probably be annoyed.
In light of this difference, it is vital to understand that some models can be used in both situations. If a narrower line is needed outside, a wide-biased indoor bowl can be used. These will be discussed later.
Indoor bowl models are not unusual, as we have already noted. Therefore, you need to look for the same attributes as you would for any other lawn bowl.
How will you play? A narrow biased bowl is best if you play predominantly lead; conversely, a wide biased bowl is best if you play skip, or singles game a lot. Additionally, if you play a mixture, a bowl with a mid-bias may be appropriate. All-rounders are readily available, making it easier to transition between roles.
Each brand has its own grip style. You can go up a size with some grips as discussed in our guide to small hands.
